Who to call for wildlife rescue in South Australia

If you find injured, sick, or displaced wildlife, the first step is to contact the right wildlife rescue organisation. Below are  numbers for SOUTH AUSTRALIAN RESCUE GROUPS.

The Adelaide Koala and Wildlife Centre is not a rescue service. We provide veterinary assessment, treatment, and ongoing care for koalas and other native wildlife after rescue or referral.

If the animal is in immediate danger, badly injured, bleeding, collapsed, weak, or unable to move normally, contact an open veterinary clinic or the appropriate wildlife rescue contact as soon as possible.
If the animal has been hit by a car, attacked by a dog or cat, is bleeding, breathing with difficulty, collapsed, or unresponsive, seek urgent help straight away.

If it is safe to do so:
  • Place the animal in a secure box or carrier
  • Keep it warm, dark, and quiet
  • Minimise handling
  • Do not offer food or water unless you have been told to do so by a vet or wildlife rescue organisation
  • Contact an open veterinary clinic or the appropriate wildlife rescue organisation as soon as possible
